Cool & Calm: Mint Green!!
Every wedding has a color palette. Like last week when we looked at the watercolor trend, I would like to look at mint green wedding ideas. I love the presence of mint green lately. I feel as though it gives a vintage feel but still leaves a lot room to be you and add modern touches. The great thing about colors is that they have meaning and can be your entire theme. The meaning behind mint makes it perfect for a wedding day.
I love mint not only because it’s cute and fun but also because it represents so much of what is important for a wedding. Mint green is often related to nature. I found that the Color Wheel Pro says that green is the color of nature, symbolizing growth, freshness and fertility. This is perfect to represent your wedding day, your life is starting fresh as a couple you are growing as a person and if kids are in your future fertility and something that you definitely hope for. Lastly Mint is a calming color, your wedding day should be as relaxing and fun as possible so why not use a color to help calm down a hectic day.
Like with the watercolor theme that we looked at last week, Mint, or any color for that matter can be incorporated throughout the entire wedding from invitations and save the dates, to table décor and bridal and bridesmaids headpieces. So great to have a color theme and find fun creative ways to use them in as many aspects as possible. In order to incorporate mint throughout the wedding with out going overboard you’ll have to add some other colors to balance it out. Mint goes beautifully with a pale pink, white, and light browns. Hopefully this gives you some fabulous ideas to plan your mint green wedding! Remember to have fun and be creative!

Hair Accessories For The Bride!
Bridal hair accessories provide a fun way to show your personal style on your big day! The first accessory most brides think about is the veil. Veils are typically thought of as very traditional and had gone by the wayside, but they are making a come back! Now veils are shorter and much more trendy. Veils are something that can be modified to fit your style and can still look traditional or can be very edgy. You can pair a veil with a beautiful beaded headband or they can sit low on the head under a low up do.
Here is a brief history of the wedding veil as written on veilubridal.com:
“Some say that the veil was introduced in ancient Rome. People of that era believed that evil spirits would be attracted to the bride, so they covered her face with a veil in order to conceal her features and confuse them. The definition of veil is to "obscure, shroud, mask or cover, so perhaps that is how the bridal "veil" got its name.
It's also said that in medieval times, the veil was used to protect her from "the evil eye" and was a symbol of purity, chastity, and modesty.
Others say that the origin of the bridal veil was due to the circumstances of an arranged marriage. In days past, men bargained with an eligible young lady's father for their hand in marriage. AFTER the ceremony, the veil was lifted to reveal the brides features. This was to keep a groom from backing out of the deal if he didn't like what he saw.
Some say that the veil was used in days past as a symbol of a bride's submission and willingness to obey her husband.
Certain lengths of bridal veils got their names from how or where they were worn. At one time, Cathedral Veils were only worn in wedding that took place in cathedrals.”
If a veil feels too traditional for your special day I’d recommend a birdcage. They have a vintage feel and can be paired with feathers, flowers or jewels. Birdcages are great for short hairstyles. They are very fun and can be worn one-way for the ceremony and then rearranged for more of a casual look at the reception!
One of our favorite hair trends right now is peacock feathers. They are fun, elegant, and we also love how versatile they are. By simply adding them to the boutonnieres for the men and to the bridal bouquet you can tie the whole idea together!

Signature Cocktails to Personalize Your Wedding Day!
Who doesn’t love a fun cocktail? A great way to kick the party off for your guests while keeping up with your wedding day theme is a signature cocktail! Cocktails are a great way to really represent you as a couple and to represent your theme. If you decide to have a signature cocktail on your big day there are a few things you want to keep in mind. It’s important to choose something that you feel a good majority of your guests will enjoy. The cocktail should definitely represent the two of you and your vision for the day but it won’t be any fun if nobody likes it! Here are some sample themes and cocktails, to get your wheels spinning.
Lets start with the Hollywood glamour theme. When you think Hollywood Glamour you think beauty, class and Marilyn Monroe. A simple and elegant cocktail will be perfect for an event like this. My favorite old Hollywood cocktail is the one made in the movie Casablanca. In the scene with the classic line “Here’s looking at you, kid.” They make a champagne cocktail that will be perfect for your Hollywood Glamour themed wedding. It consists of dry champagne, brandy, a sugar cube and bitters.

This sophisticated cocktail will be very popular and match your theme perfectly!
Lets look at a Rustic theme. Rustic, is the perfect balance between eclectic and outdoorsy. At your country-chic wedding reception I thought that the Indian Summer Cocktail would be an excellent fit. This is also a champagne cocktail, which I find very suitable for weddings. The Indian summer includes mango puree, peach schnapps and champagne. This cocktail will be crisp and refreshing and definitely a crowd pleaser, not to mention it is gorgeous! I suggest serving the cocktail in mason jars, to really step it up a notch.
One of our couples is doing an Italian themed wedding and what better cocktail to have than a Bellini!
Here is the recipe:
Ingredients: 3/10 Nettare di pesca (peach juice), 7/10 Spumante Brut (Prosecco is traditional)
Preparation: Build it directly in a Champagne flute, pouring peach juice first and then Spumante Brut.
If you are having a beach or tropical wedding consider doing a Blue Hawaiian as your signature drink!
Here are is the recipe:
- 3/4 ounce light rum
- 3/4 ounce vodka
- 1/2 ounce Curacao
- 3 ounces pineapple juice, unsweetened
- 1 ounce Sweet and Sour

Your wedding is your day to express yourself, your relationship and to celebrate! A signature cocktail is going to be an awesome way to kick the party off for your guests when they arrive at the reception. Most importantly just have fun with idea and experiment until you find the perfect cocktail to represent your special day!
